Aérospatiale AS 565 fs

The Alouette (French for lark) II Sud-Est SE.3130 is powered by a Turboméca Artouste II, the Sud-Aviation SA-318C by an Astazou IV. The manufacturer consortium Aérospatiale produced the Alouette II with a skid landing gear, three-blade main rotor and a two-blade tail rotor.
Development: In the 1980s, French aerospace company Aerospatiale decided to develop a purpose-built military version of their popular Eurocopter AS365 Dauphin. The civilian SA365 N variant of the Dauphin was used as the starting point for the project; the new rotorcraft was designed for supply, tank, troop and sea transport. 28 February 1984, the prototype of the military variant, designated AS365M and later called Panther, made its first flight. A total of three prototypes were built.
Design: The AS565 Panther is a twin-engine, medium-sized, multi-mission rotorcraft. It is capable of performing various naval and land missions such as maritime security, search and rescue (SAR), casualty evacuation (CASEVAC), vertical replenishment, surveillance, special operations, anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and anti-surface warfare (ASuW). Panther is powered by a Turbomeca Arriel turboshaft engine, which drives the main rotor rotor as well as the Fenestron Antitorque tail rotor assembly. The Panther’s flight profile has been described as easy to manoeuvre, with generous g-force limitations and a high degree of stability. In the command-transport configuration, the Panther can carry up to 10 fully armed soldiers on board at any one time, in addition to the two pilots flying the aircraft. The main cabin can be quickly reconfigured to perform various tasks such as troop transport, SAR and MEDIVAC missions; optional equipment includes a full medical suite, forward looking infrared camera (FLIR), emergency flotation, loudspeaker, variable speed cargo hoist, cargo slings, search light and stretcher support structure.

The scale replica of the model is based on the superstructure of the original Alouette II. The fuselage frame and the tail boom are made of stainless steel tube frame construction and are not covered. The stainless steel tubes are brazed with silver solder. The frame construction in the cockpit area is self-supporting and accommodates the batteries, receiver, turbine electronics, landing lights below the cockpit floor. All mounting points for turbine fairing, airintake support system, exhaust pipe are provided on the framework. The same is true for the battery box, fire extinguisher, paraffin pump and solenoid vent.
The scale canopy impresses with its narrow frame and, after glazing, gives a very original impression of the canopy replica. Optionally, the scale character of the canopy can be greatly enhanced by replicating rivets, screws and sheet metal reinforcements. Optionally, the cockpit heating system can be reproduced with 3D printed parts, in addition to many other details. The canopy is slid over the stem and is connected to the tubular steel frame with 2 pieces of M 4 screws. The set of washers is included. The washers are fitted from the inside and fixed with superglue. The necessary 3-piece sheet metal covering behind the tank is provided with the typical recesses in the sheet metal. Optionally, the hinged part can be reproduced true to the original by cutting it out and fitting it with hinge tape. The necessary drawings with dimensions are enclosed with the model. The tail boom is removable and has stable connecting elements. The tail rotor drive is mounted 6 times on the tail boom like on the original. The drive tube has a diameter of 6 mm and a wall thickness of 0.5 mm. The connection of mechanics, shaft and tail rotor is done by generously designed coupling systems.
The tubular steel frame holds a 5-litre GRP tank. A large sight glass allows the paraffin level in the tank to be monitored. Baffles in the tank ensure that the entire filling quantity can be flown. The landing gear with struts is available in a normal version and in a scale version. The control of the swash plate can be reproduced originally. For this purpose a servo mount is already installed behind the cabin. From here the original control can be led to the swash plate via a bell crank. The swashplate is then in a three-point linkage. It is also possible to install the servos in the mechanics and to steer the swash plate directly via 4 servos.

Aérospatiale AS 565 fs

Mechanics HF-Panther for Jakadowsky Turbine PRO 6000 Robust mechanics specially designed for AS 565. Sturdy GRP side plate screwed onto aluminium bolts milled from the solid form the base frame of the mechanism. An original bevel gear set from Jakadowsky is placed between the spacer bars. It was manufactured with high precision and is driven by a main gear made of high-strength plastic. This main gear is designed for the desired speed of the rotor head for the EC 145 and is specially milled for us from the solid. This ensures 100 % concentricity. The plastic main gear then meshes with the pinion of the centrifugal clutch of the Jakadowsky turbine. High-quality bearings complement the mechanics and allow for a long service life. Main rotor head speed 950 rpm. Fenestron speed 9000 rpm. Mechanics for 12 and 15 mm main rotor shafts All parts “Made in Germany”!!!

Rotor head

Aérospatiale AS 565 fs

Rotor head : The AS 565 is equipped with a 4-blade rotor head from Heli-Factory. Construction of the rotor head in full metal without damping. We recommend the rotor head stabilisation system from Bavarian Demon.
Extremely good-natured and precise to control rotor head with extreme detail and reproduction of the scale view of the rotor head. Blade handle mount 14 mm Rotor head for 12 and 15 mm main rotor shafts Rotor head completely assembled and painted All parts “Made in Germany”!!!
Swash plate: A swashplate for a 15 mm rotor shaft from Heli-Factory controls the rotor head with 4 servos.
Replica completely made of metal on high-precision 5-axis machining centres according to our drawings and designs. Swash plate completely fitted with bearings, assembled and painted. Swash plate for 12 or 15 mm shafts All parts “Made in Germany”!!!
Rotor blades: Rotor blades 4 pieces precision-balanced with a 14 mm intake. length 1150 mm Width 75 mm
Tail rotor: The tail rotor is completely made of aluminium with a bevel gear combination 1:1 with a diameter of 23.3 mm. The bevel gears have cyclo-palloid gearing module 0.6 and the tooth flanks are induction hardened.
This gives us sufficient strength for large models with increased torque which the tail rotor has to compensate. The direction of rotation is designed for the Alouette II, but can be changed at any time by moving the gears in the gearbox. This means that it is possible to change the direction of rotation or the side of rotation at a later date. An 8mm hollow drilled, case hardened and ground tail rotor shaft drives the rotor with steel centre piece and mounted blade holders. Tail rotor completely manufactured in metal on high-precision 5-axis machining centres for us according to our drawings and designs. Blade mount 8mm or 10mm With 8mm blade holder fastening screw M3 12.9 With 10mm blade holder fastening screw M4 12.9 Tail rotor completely assembled and gear backlash adjusted. All parts “Made in Germany”!!!
