AgustaWestland AW139

The AW139 was developed in cooperation between Agusta and Bell as AB139 and later continued by Agusta alone. After the merger of Agusta (IT) and Westland (UK) to form AgustaWestland, now Leonardo Helicopters, it is now only called AW139. Today, the AW139 is the market leader in medium helicopters. To date, more than 900 units have been produced in Italy, the USA and Russia.

The AW139 offers very great passenger comfort and many performance reserves. Flight crews all over the world appreciate the flight behaviour and the spacious modern glass cockpit.

HeliService uses the latest version, the so-called AW139 long nose enhanced, with an increased take-off weight of 7000 kg. Offshore flights are carried out with a maximum of 12 passengers, although 15 passengers are possible. The first flight of the AW139 prototype took place on 3 February 2001 in Vergiate in northern Italy, the first production aircraft flew on 24 June 2004, and the first aircraft was delivered a year later. By the end of 2008, more than 430 orders (about 200 delivered) had been received from more than 40 countries. Since May 2010, a de-icing system has been available as an option.

AgustaWestland AW139

The master model was still made by hand according to documents from AW.

The production of all GRP / CFRP parts takes place in 9 moulds. High-quality resin systems are used to produce high-strength, very light components which in the end produce all the parts necessary for the construction of the AW 139.

The tail is resin bonded to the fuselage as a separate part.

The tail rotor is driven by a flex-shaft drive.

A set of ribs made of high quality aircraft plywood is resin-bonded to the fuselage and takes care of the fuel tank, landing gear and turbine or electric mechanics.

The finished model has doors that can be opened or slid.

Windows are fitted from the inside and fixed with superglue.

The retractable main and nose landing gear is retracted and extended by servos. The two main landing gears have a special construction which allows them to retract into the openings in the retracted (sprung) state. The nose gear is equipped with an electric drive and is attached to the frame set.

The AW 139 is equipped with the 5 blade rotor head and a swashplate for 5 blade rotor.

The model is completely assembled by us. You can choose between:

– Model ready to be built, as an extension model with the desired 3D special parts according to your wishes.

– Model ready to fly with drive, the desired 3 D special parts according to your wishes and the painting ..received.

You can choose between turbine or electric motor.

Turbine version with Jakadowsky PRO 6000

Electric version with Hacker Q 100

We mainly use radio control components from Futaba, PowerBox, Bavarian Demon, Hacker, and Jeti. The desired installation of 3 D option special parts will be considered according to your wishes.

mechanics

AgustaWestland AW139

Mechanics HF-AW139 for Jakadowsky turbines PRO 6000 or electric drive with Q 100.

Robust mechanism specially designed for the AW 139 and the position of the turbine.

Stable GRP side plate screwed onto aluminium bars milled from the solid form the base frame of the mechanism.

An original bevel gear set from Jakadowsky is placed between the distance bars, which was manufactured with high precision and is driven by a main gear made of high-strength plastic. This main gear is designed for the desired speed of the rotor head for the Gazelle and is specially milled for us from the solid. This ensures 100 % concentricity. The plastic main gear wheel then engages with the pinion of the centrifugal clutch of the Jakadowsky turbine or electric motor.

High-quality bearings complement the mechanics and allow for a long service life.

Main rotor head speed 980 rpm

Rear rotor speed 4800 rpm

Mechanics for 12 and 15 mm main rotor shafts

and the tooth flanks are inductively hardened.

This gives us very high strength and allows us to transmit high torques over a very long service life without any problems, especially with large models, which have to be compensated by the Fenestron…

The direction of rotation is designed for the AW 139, but can be changed at any time by repositioning the gear wheels in the gearbox. Thus, a later conversion to another direction of rotation or another side is possible.
An 8mm hollow drilled, case hardened and ground tail rotor shaft drives the 4-blade tail rotor with steel centre piece and mounted blade holders.

Tail rotor completely manufactured in metal on high-precision 5-axis machining centres for us according to our drawings and layouts.
